What this is
The Silence Index is a tool for tracking your own job applications, and a public record of how employers respond to applicants. It is free to use. We make no promise that it will always be available, and we may change or stop it.
Report honestly
When you log an application and choose to contribute it, you are making a factual claim about a named company: that you applied on a date, and that they did or did not respond by another date. Report only applications you actually made, and record what actually happened.
Do not file reports about a company to damage it, do not file the same application more than once, and do not file applications you did not make. Accounts doing any of these may be removed along with their reports.
What the figures mean
A published rate reflects the people who used this site and chose to contribute. It is not a survey of everyone who applied to that company, and we do not present it as one.
A company that has not responded within the published standard has missed that standard. That is the claim being made, and it is the only claim being made. Nothing here is a statement about whether a company is a good employer, and nothing here is advice about whether to apply.
Other people's information
Do not enter the names, contact details or any other personal information of individual recruiters, hiring managers or interviewers. This site is about organisations, not about the people who work for them. Reports containing personal details about an individual will be removed.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure. You can delete your account at any time, and we can close accounts that break the rules above.
Corrections and contact
If you are an employer and believe a figure about you is wrong, write to us and we will look at it. If a report turns out to be inaccurate, we will remove it.
